Cunningham gets revenge on TFC
(Steve Hunt, Toronto Star) - Toronto FC head coach Preki felt his side was better than FC Dallas but TFC still left Pizza Hut Park with a 1-0 defeat Saturday night.
“The team that was most likely to get the result tonight didn’t,” he said. “We made one mistake and we paid for it. I thought Dallas stole the points tonight.”
Jeff Cunningham, who spent parts of the 2007 and 2008 seasons with the Reds, scored the game’s only goal in the 47th minute. His 129th career goal came after the Toronto back line was caught high, leaving ample space for the Dallas attack to operate. >>>

TFC will take draw
(Ryan Wolstat, Toronto Sun) - Toronto FC might have deserved better, but will take a 0-0 draw with Real Salt Lake.
“We all are a bit disappointed, but when you have a little time to step back and think about it, that was a really good team we played, and one point is probably OK,” Reds defender Ty Harden said.
“We were fortunate to come out with a tie,” captain Dwayne De Rosario said.
It is never really a good time to have to face the defending MLS champion, currently third overall in the league standings. But Real Salt Lake came in exhausted after a tough slog against Cruz Azul in horrible conditions at Mexico City on Wednesday. >>>

Toronto FC signs 1st youth academy product
(John Molinaro, CBC Sports) - Do you remember what you were doing when you were 17?
Chances are you were still in school and living with your parents, sheltered from the responsibilities of real life.
Doneil Henry doesn't have that luxury. As of Thursday, he has a fulltime job, one that puts him squarely in the public forum where all of his triumphs and mistakes will be scrutinized from here on in.
The 17-year-old native of Brampton, Ont., has signed his first professional contract with Toronto FC, becoming the first homegrown player from the club's youth academy system to graduate to the senior team. >>>
(Toronto FC) - Toronto FC gave up a goal before halftime and finished the game with nine men as the Reds fell to Árabe Unido 1-0 in Panama on Tuesday night in the second match of their CONCACAF Champions League group-stage campaign.
The Panamanian side dominated possession in the opening half by a 92 percent margin (editor's note: the figure quoted by MLSsoccer.com and CONCACAF.com is incorrect. First half possession was 55%-45% in Arabe Unido's favour) and, despite numerous half-chances, were finally rewarded for their efforts in the 40th minute.
Árabe Unido defender Roland de la Cruz headed down a corner kick straight into the path of striker Fidel Caesar, who unleashed a spectacular first-time half-volley towards the Toronto goal.
The shot appeared to have been stopped by Reds defender Gabe Gala, but the ball was judged to have crossed the line and the visitors went to the dressing room with a 1-0 halftime lead. >>>
Anyone for an Encore?
Toronto FC capped of a memorable first season on the 20th of October
with a thrilling come-from-behind draw against the New England Revolution.
Appropriately, Danny Dichio, who scored the first ever TFC goal, added the
other bookend when he looped an injury-time equalizer over the Revolution
keeper.

TFC Remain Winless
Seconds after Maycoll Canizales bungled home TFC’s first
goal in over 13 1/2 hours of MLS play, I received a phone
call in the press box. It was my wife, running late and
calling from the GO station outside the CNE.
'Did they score?' were the first words out of her mouth. She
had heard the roar of the crowd and wanted confirmation.

DC United Add to TFC Misery
An early goal by DC United’s Fred held up against relentless
TFC pressure as the home team fell to it’s 3rd straight
defeat. Toronto is now winless in their last eight league
games and remain in last place in the MLS Eastern
Conference. They now also own the MLS single-season futility
record, not having scored a goal in now 642 consecutive
minutes, or the equivalent of over 7 full games.

TFC Drop Friendly to EPL Side in BMO
Return
Toronto FC faced off against Aston Villa of the English
Premier League in a meaningless but entertaining match at
BMO Field on Wednesday night. Showing no sign of fatigue

visitors.

Toronto FC Crush League Leaders
It was not your typical start for TFC on this home stand. Both teams
came out cautious and possession was fairly even over the first 20 minutes.
Toronto had come out flying in each its two previous games versus New York and
Colorado. However, by half time Toronto was in a familiar position – in the
lead.

TFC Rides Hot Start to Victory at BMO
A scintillating opening 30 minutes that produce two goals
and a half dozen more close calls was enough to power
Toronto FC to a 2-1 victory over the Colorado Rapids at BMO
Field. The home team tamed the Rapids with a red wave that
controlled the midfield, continually broke through the
Colorado defence and shut down their forwards.

TFC Knocks Off MLS Champs
It has taken just two games for Andy Welsh to go from
favourite whipping boy to just plain one of the favourites
for the supporters of TFC. It was Welsh’s 25th minute header
that powered the home team to its second straight victory
and first shutout in franchise history.
